The 29th University of Nairobi Career Fair took place from Thursday 5th - Friday 6th December 2019, drawing industry players and students from universities as well as high schools.
The Career Fair gave students an opportunity to interact with Human Resource professionals and CEOs of various organizations in a bid to get to know what the industry needs in their workforce. China Wu-Yi Construction Company Limited CEO, was among key management professionals present during the Career Fair. The theme of the Career Fair was Skilling graduates for the Job Market.
Companies also engaged students in ten different side-event career talks held on November 5, 2019. Companies which participated were: Britam, KPMG, YASA, FUZU, ISA, Bechtel, CHRM, Bosch, Unilever Kenya Limited, Redington and East Africa Data Handlers.
Fuzu, an online employment platform and skills training company took students through 'How to Plan your Career Growth' in a panel where their HR Lead, Ms. Nelly engaged with Ivy Njeri from Yusudi. Both Nelly and Ivy are in a different professional field from what they studied in their undergraduate degrees, but still using the knowledge they learnt in their current role. Nelly did her undergraduate in Information Technology (IT) and is in Human Resource and Talent Management, while Ivy did an undergraduate in Statistics and is in Public Relations at Yusudi. Yusudi is a skills-training enterprise which trains youth in life-skills that make them employment-ready. Yusudi also provides internship and attachment opportunities to its students who have gone through their training, in organizations and firms that they have partnered with.

Student from Kianda High School was pleased to have attended the Career Fair. She came for the event as she did not know which field she wanted to enter once she completed her secondary education. She confirms that the Career Fair engagement expounded more on this quest that she had.

The Career Fair was organized by University of Nairobi Office of Career Services which was established in 2018 by then former Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education, Ms. Amina Mohamed, who now holds the position Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage.
